Ponds

Ponds hold more biodiversity than rivers and lakes. Healthy ponds offer many resources to support plants, insects, amphibians, birds and mammals. NádúrNua hopes to introduce as many ponds to its woodland sites where they are appropriate and can be created naturally.

A new pond was created in Curraheen in April 2024 as well as two winter ponds. A winter pond was also established in Cooldine in November 2024.
