NádúrNua supports the conservation of Birds on its woodlands, in particular, red and yellow endangered species such as Barn Owls, Kestrels, Meadow Pipits, Swallows, House Martins and Tree Sparrows.
Over 59 bird species have been recorded in NádúrNua’s woodlands. By installing bird boxes in all of the woodlands we are enhancing the opportunities for bird species to return.
We will be rotating a bird song monitor around all of our woodlands so we can measure the improvement in birdlife as our woodlands mature and diversify.
By broadening the native tree species, we are aiming to provide more food resources for birds throughout the seasons. Hawthorn, Guelder Rose, Dog Rose, Buckthorn, Holly, Rowan, Blackthorn, Spindle, Wild Cherry and Crab Apple are some of the native species we are introducing on most of our woodlands.
